How-To Affiliate Market – For Beginners, Part 2: Choosing a Niche

Choosing a niche market is probably one of the most daunting tasks for a newcomer to the affiliate marketing scene. They want to choose the right one, to hopefully make them a bunch of cash in a hurry, so they do their best to make a good choice, but it’s really tough to take all the different info across the net, and put it together in order to help with that decision. There is a LOT of stuff on niche marketing all over the net, but the most complete site I’ve seen is Niche Titans. There is a huge amount of really good information on niche marketing there. First, let’s have a look at those definitions to find out what Niche marketing really is. Look up niche here Definitions and c’mon back. So as you can see, niche marketing is what affiliate marketers do, we select a very specific subject or market, and turn all our considerable marketing skills to selling in that niche. We don’t need to do the selling ourselves, we just need to get people to go from our site to the sellers and buy their products. But how do you know what’s a good niche, what will bring in the most cash? Do you pick something that you know really well, or something you know will make money even if you have no interest in it? Well read on fellow affiliates!

Niche research, that’s a term that scared me when I started out, I hate doing more work than I have to, but in this case, the research is the most important part of your affiliate marketing, so you’re going to have to get used to it. I found a great article on using Googles keyword tool See it at Niche Titans. This should help you out, and is an excellent tool for finding good niches to try. Remember a niche that has a lot of marketers is not a bad place to go, in fact for the beginner it’s a great place because these markets have people that work them and make money from them already. If you can use their experience to help you, by all means! That will not only help you learn better, but you’re starting in an already proven niche and it’s easier to break in and make the money there rather than trying to make something of a niche that’s not so well affiliated.

Still we need to figure out how to choose the niche you want to be in though, it’s not really all that helpful to have the Google keyword tool, and still have no idea where to start looking. So, sit down, and make a list, use a pencil and paper. (A hand driven writing device, and a processed tree for those of you who are too young to remember hehe) Make a list of all of your interests, large and small. You’re going to be spending a LOT of time working on this site, and dealing with this subject. If you don’t have an interest or want to have an interest in it, don’t bother marketing it because it will show on the marketing and you won’t make as much money. So make a list of all your interests, and then narrow them down even more. Get out your Google keyword tool, and do some preliminary research on all of your interests, and rate them according to the results. Not only will this narrow down what you’re going to start marketing with, but it will give you your next few marketing ideas and save you a little work later. (Keep in mind these numbers will change, and likely change every day, so before you jump right into your next marketing scheme, do the research again) Simple as that though, that’s how I did it, and it was immensely useful and made things a lot easier than they have to be.

Now what do you do once you’ve decided and done the keyword research? Well the rest of the research of course. Niche titans have already written an article on this, and there’s no need for me to rehash old news as they did a great job with it, so check it out here. There you have it, choosing a niche market made really easy! Keep coming back for more articles to make your affiliate marketing career prosper!
